The Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine (the Division), part of the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) of Cornell University, was founded in 1997. The Division has experienced impressive and continuous growth since Drs. Ronald Adelman and Mark Lachs assumed its leadership in 1998. The Division has developed a rich array of clinical, educational and research programs promoting excellence in geriatrics and palliative medicine within the medical institution and community at large. Designated a National Center of Excellence by the John A. Hartford Foundation, the Division's outstanding health practitioners and faculty are committed to enhancing the highest quality of care to adults of all ages. Our interdisciplinary team embraces a comprehensive approach to aging and palliative care as reflected in our diverse areas of interest and research, including pain management, physician-patient communication, elder abuse, end-of-life care and caregiving.
