For Patients and their Families

The Division of Geriatrics provides comprehensive geriatric services in a variety of multidisciplinary settings.

Outpatient Care

The Irving Sherwood Wright Center on Aging, the centerpiece of the Division's outpatient clinical activities, provides outpatient primary care to community residing older adults. Members of the care team include physicians, a gero-psychiatrist, a geriatric social worker, and geriatric nurse practitioners.

Through its House Call Program, the Division provides primary care medical services to homebound older adults, who for reasons of chronic disease or mobility impairment cannot travel to the Wright Center.

Inpatient Care

The Division also provides care to older adults through three significant in-patient care initiatives at New York-Presbyterian Hospital:

  1. Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit delivers state-of-the art inpatient care;
  2. Geriatric Consult Service provides continuity of care for hospitalized patients of the Wright Center; and
  3. Palliative Care Consultation Service focuses on relief of symptoms and stress of serious illness, whatever the diagnosis.
