The Application Process:

The Division of Geriatric Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University-New York Presbyterian hospital participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Please submit your credentials to ERAS for consideration.

Contact David Aronson if you have questions about the application process.

Application Requirements

Geriatrics Fellowship application requirements include:

  • Photograph
  • Personal statement
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Application Form

The selection committee reviews complete applications on a regular basis. The committee will notify you by phone, email or postal mail if we wish to schedule an interview with you. The selection committee begins its interview process well in advance of the start of each program year and continues until both positions are filled. It therefore recommends that candidates apply early.

Selection of Fellows

The committee selects fellows on the basis of their preparedness, ability, aptitude, credentials, communications skills and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity. It does not have a minimum USMLE or other minimum score requirements.

Housing

Fellows are not required to live in Hospital housing. Information on housing will be provided to accepted fellows during the appointment process.

Fellows may also apply for garage space. Housing and garage facilities for fellows and their families are within walking distance of the hospital.

Salaries and Benefits

Salaries and fringe benefits are based on the cost of living in New York City and are competitive with those of other institutions.

Licensure/Immigration Requirements

All fellows must maintain appropriate immigration status at all times. Non-U.S. citizens should contact the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates for application of O and Green Card sponsorship. Please note that we cannot sponsor fellows for H1-B visas.

*Non-U.S. citizens ONLY may work with a Limited Permit to practice medicine in New York State. Information and an application for a Limited Permit can be found at the New York State Education Department Web Site. (http://www.nysed.gov/)
